BIO:
Carl Tassi began his drum studies at age eleven at Ferguson's Music in San Jose, California under the instruction of Myron Kegobein, a former member of the nationally know group, The Goofers. Within a couple years he was performing with players three to four times his age. During high-school he became interested in jazz through one of his classmates and his interest deepened when he purchased his first jazz recording by Coleman Hawkins. Together, the two classmates, formed a jazz quartet; with the addition of two members from another high-school.
Carl continued his studies at San Francisco State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with a concentration in symphonic percussion. He continued to perform with various groups in the San Francisco Bay Area while leading his own free form improvisational jazz group called "The Free Thing". During that time he found himself in the middle of the, now historical, San Francisco Rock Scene. He later toured with David LaFlamme, the former band leader and lead singer from "It's A Beautiful Day" (RCA Records), followed by an involvement with two former members from the band "RJ Fox" which recorded an album for Atlantic Records.
Permanently moving to Los Angeles, California in 1988, Carl reconnected with his passion for jazz. A number of years later he decided to form his own band - performing as a vocalist and drummer. The result of which lead to the recording of his first solo CD "Waiting For The Bread" (Royola Records) as a singer, drummer, producer, writer, and arranger.
